On Wednesday the SEC recognized a pair of Alabama swimmers.
Laurent Bams was named the SEC Male Freshman Swimmer of the Year. He scored for the Crimson Tide in two individual events and two relays as the SEC Championships. He also scored in 100 freestyle at the NCAA Championships and took place in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.
Connor Oslin was named the SEC Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The biology major has a 3.9 GPA and he successfully defended his SEC 100 backstroke title at the league championships earlier this season. He also led the third-fastest 400 medley relay at the national championships and scored in both the the 100 and 200 backstroke finals at the NCAA championships.
“We’re very proud of Lauren Bams and Connor Oslin and everyone from Alabama that earned SEC accolades this season,” UA head coach Dennis Pursley said. “Everyone on this list has worked extremely hard toward being the best they can be and helping the Crimson Tide be the best it can be. We are especially proud of the way Connor has demonstrated excellence in the pool and in the classroom.”
Oslin finished the year with First Team All-SECHonors and Bams joined eight other UA swimmers on the All-SEC Second Team.
