Alabama tight end O.J. Howard was voted the United States Sports Academy’s Male Athlete of the Month of January.
Howard’s five receptions for 208 yards and two touchdown performance in the National Championship victory over Clemson earned the game’s offensive MVP consideration for the monthly award which was voted on.
The runner up behind Howard was tennis player Novak Djokovic, and golfer Jordan Spieth took third place. World Cup ski racer Lindsey Vonn won the female ballot.
Howard will now be eligible for a ballot at the end of the year where the public can vote for its favorite Athlete of the Month to become Athlete of the Year.
