The Crimson Tide won four events and medaled 11 boats Saturday in the Chattanooga Head Race in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The race was the first of the season for the Alabama, and coach Larry Davis was pleased with his team’s performance.
“I think we had a really solid team performance,” Davis said. “We had great performances from everybody. We were up against great competition and I think we handled that and the course well.”
The Crimson Tide started strong, sweeping the top five spots in the Women’s Collegiate 8+, with a winning time of 16:11.24. All five Alabama boats finished in under 17 minutes, while the sixth place boat from Georgia Tech finished in 17:30.02.
The Crimson Tide also placed four of the top five boats in the Women’s Championship Doubles. The team also finished second and third in the Collegiate Pairs.
The Crimson Tide also won the Novice 4+ and College 4+ events, with a second place finish in the Novice 8+.
Alabama continues its season Saturday at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
