The Alabama football team continued its fall camp this week. Take a look at practice notes from the Crimson Tide’s practices.
Monday morning session, Aug. 17:
Alabama practiced indoors for its first session of a two-a-day this morning.
Practice Notes:
Alabama QB Jake Coker was not at practice today.
RB Kenyan Drake stood to the side of Alabama’s RB drills. Drake was not wearing a black non-contact jersey. Alabama coach Nick Saban said Drake tweaked his hamstring before last Saturday’s scrimmage.
Wide receivers Robert Foster and Chris Black returned to practice. Foster wore a brace on his right knee after spraining his knee during Saturday’s scrimmage, but was not limited and seemed fully mobile, making a jumping catch during drills. Black, with a heavily taped ankle, remained limited, noticeably struggling with his cuts.
RB Bo Scarbrough wore a black non-contact jersey but went through drills, including blocking Derrick Henry.
Freshman OL Lester Cotton returned to practice after missing several days. He appeared to have no limitations in practice.
Cornerbacks – Freshman Minkah Fitzpatrick and senior Cyrus Jones
Safeties – Seniors Geno Smith and Eddie Jackson
STAR (Extra DB) – Junior Maurice Smith.
LBs – Senior Reggie Ragland and Junior Reuben Foster
Monte Kiffin, former NFL defensive coordinator and Lane Kiffin’s father, was at Alabama’s practice, sporting Alabama regalia.
Saban issued the following statement regarding Coker’s absence from practice: “Jake Coker has a minor foot injury that we think will keep him out of practice for several days. Our physicians anticipate a full recovery.”
Tuesday, Aug. 18
The Alabama football team worked in its indoor facility on Tuesday afternoon. Quarterback Jake Coker returned, working on the sideline with trainers. Coker missed yesterday’s practice session due to a “minor foot injury” that will keep him out for a few days, according to a statement Alabama coach Nick Saban released through UA Athletics.
NOTES:
RB Kenyan Drake returned to practice today, running cutting drills with the running backs. Drake ran next to last, in front of Bo Scarbrough, who wore a black non-contact jersey. Derrick Henry led the line, followed by Damien Harris.
Alec Morris led the quarterbacks, followed by Cooper Bateman, David Cornwell and Blake Barnett, in order.
WR Chris Black, with a heavily taped ankle, ran passing drills but only at about half-speed.
WR Robert Foster worked without a knee brace.
Cornerbacks – Cyrus Jones and Marlon Humphrey
Safeties – Eddie Jackson and Geno Smith
Star/Money – Minkah Fitzpatrick and Maurice Smith
MACK linebacker – Reuben Foster
Wednesday, Aug. 19

David Cornwell led another line of quarterbacks, followed by Blake Barnett and two walk-ons wearing numbers 19 and 10.
NOTES:

RB Kenyan Drake was second in line on the running back drills he did run, but was limited during Wednesday’s practice.
