AJ McCarron finished second in the 2013 Heisman voting Saturday night, garnering 79 first-place votes to winner Jameis Winston’s 668 votes. He finished with 704 total points.
The ceremony came two days after McCarron won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and Maxwell Award in addition to being named First-team All-American. The Crimson Tide quarterback set school career records in wins, completion percentage and passing touchdowns as a senior. He threw for 2,676 yards and 26 touchdowns in 2013.
McCarron is the third player in five years from Alabama to be a finalist for the award, after Trent Richardson placed third in the 2011 voting and Mark Ingram won in 2009. The 2013 ceremony featured six finalists, most in one season since 1994.
