CLEMSON, S.C. – The Alabama rowing team won two races, as well as notching a silver and bronze medal finish, at the Clemson Sprints on Lake Hartwell in Clemson, S.C., Saturday. It was the Crimson Tide’s second meet of the spring season and first road contest.
Alabama won the Second Novice 8+ race with a time of 7:40.00, besting Purdue by eight seconds and Indiana by 16. The Tide also took top honors in the Third Varsity 8+ with a time of 7:20.48, finishing 20 seconds ahead of second-place Purdue.
The Tide’s First Novice 8+ boat took second behind Clemson, 7:02.93 to 7:13.92 while Indiana finished third with a 7:16.48.
In the second Varsity 8+, Alabama was third with a 7:08.05, 17 seconds back of the winner, Clemson, and five second behind runner-up Indiana. In the First Varsity 8+, the Tide took fourth with a time of 7:07.62 while Clemson took the win with a 6:44.15.
