The offseason may be in full swing but Alabama Softball remains active in recruiting as it landed a commitment from rising senior Alexis Mack. Mack spent two seasons with the Oregon Ducks where she earned All-PAC 12 and NFCA First Team Pacific All-Region honors in both seasons.

The game between the Sooners and the Crimson Tide was close throughout as both teams wrestled for momentum. Alabama battled back in the third inning and again in the fifth to tie the game after Oklahoma took a lead in the game but could not get the hit to put them over the hump.

Softball dominates UAB behind explosive offense

Jenkins and junior Bailey Hemphill had their power swings going in the game against the Blazers. Jenkins went 2-for-2 with a double, a home run and three RBIs. The Cullman, Ala. native is having a career year at the plate and has fit in nicely behind Hemphill in the lineup.

No. 5 Alabama improved to 21-0 after a victory over South Alabama, 5-2. The Crimson Tide struggled offensively  managing only seven hits.“I just think we need to compete a little harder, especially with two strikes” coach Patrick Murphy said. “Just don’t give in as easy. Compete your butt off and most of the time in softball and baseball, it is the competitor that gets the job done. It doesn’t have to be a pretty swing, I’d rather it be gritty than pretty.”

Over the right center field wall, a flagpole stands. On a normal gameday, an American flag and the 2012 National Championship flag wave above Alexis Osorio’s picture and number.On Courtney Gettins’ senior day, a different flag appeared as both teams were lined up along the first and third base lines. The New Zealand flag replaced the American flag and the New Zealand national anthem began to play.

No. 5 softball continues winning streak on Friday

No. 5 Alabama remained a perfect 18-0 after defeating Michigan State, 2-1 and Southern Miss, 3-2. Kaylee Tow was the catalyst for the offense. In the two games combined, she hit 3-for-5 with four RBI’s. In game one, her two RBI double was all Alabama needed to beat the Spartans.

It’s the top of the sixth, with Alabama holding a three-run lead after a long rain delay. Junior Krystall Goodman returned to the circle after allowing three runs in the top of the fifth. With Missouri State stealing all of the momentum, the game was in danger of slipping out of Alabama’s hands.With a 2-1 count, Missouri State’s, Kelly Metter, lifted a high fly ball to dead center field. Elissa Brown sprints back and to her right, she tracks the ball, times her jump and snags the ball right above the fence.

Softball prepares for Hillenbrand Invitational

After finishing the Trojan Classic, a perfect 5-0, the No. 7 Alabama Crimson Tide travel to Tucson, Arizona to compete in the Hillenbrand Invitational. Alabama started the 2019 season sharp, as it scored a total of 53 runs during the opening weekend, the highest run total scored on opening weekend in program history. Defensively, the Crimson Tide was solid as the team yielded 11 runs in the five-game stretch.

Softball sweeps Trojan Classic

Volleyball beats Mississippi State in straight sets

Alabama got back on track after it beat the Mississippi State Bulldogs in straight sets. The Crimson Tide had one of its better hitting performances of the season, finishing the match with .256 hitting percentage and committed only 17 attacking errors. Coach Ed Allen commented that the teams balance offensively is what led Alabama to a good win over a tough Mississippi State.
