Alabama women’s basketball falls to Arkansas

For the first time since 2013, two members of the Crimson Tide recorded double-doubles in the same game. Sophomore Jasmine Walker had 18 points and 12 rebounds making it her fourth double-double of the season and sophomore Ariyah Copeland had 11 points, and 10 rebounds to get her third double-double of the season.

Emily Gaskins didn’t cry when she saw her team’s score go up on the board. But she was close. Alabama gymnastics, then ranked No. 17, had gone on the road last Friday and beaten longtime rival Georgia, ranked 10th, by the literal slimmest of margins. The 196.900-to-196.875 victory brought tears to the eyes of several Crimson Tide gymnasts, but not Gaskins, who avoided the eyes of roommates and fellow freshmen Jensie Givens and Griffin James.

The Frozen Tide currently has the toughest schedule its ever faced, due to fact that Alabama recently joined the Division 1 ranks of the American Collegiate Hockey Association, which is the highest level of collegiate club hockey in the country. The program had been a D3 member of the ACHA since the team’s inception in 2005, but decided to move up to D1 in 2015.
