Troy defeats baseball in first mid-week matchup

Most of the damage was done by the end of the third inning in Alabama’s 8-4 loss to Troy. Alabama starter Connor Shamblin was tagged with his first career loss, while Sadler Goodwin finished with the win.Alabama’s first two pitchers, Shamblin and Wil Freeman, struggled to find consistency in their 2 1/3 innings of work.

Men’s golf places ninth at invitational

Sophomore Wilson Furr earned his second top-10 finish of the season and the fifth of his career to lead the Crimson Tide, finishing sixth overall with a 2-over par 218 (70-70-78). Furr knocked in 12 birdies that ranked seventh among all individuals.

Women’s tennis splits final double-header of season

No. 39 Alabama women’s tennis finished 1-1 in their final doubleheader of the season with a 4-1 loss to No. 18 Tennessee and a 4-0 win against Jackson State on Sunday. The results pushed Alabama to 15-9 on the season and 3-6 in SEC play.

Softball falls to Mississippi State in 10 innings

For the second time in three days, seven innings was not enough for fourth-ranked Alabama softball to dispatch Mississippi State. And for the first time in 344 days, the Crimson Tide (36-2 overall, 7-2 SEC) lost a game at home in Rhoads Stadium, falling 12-9 to the Bulldogs in the 10th.

Track and field succeeds at multiple invitationals

The Crimson Tide distance runners showcased in the Stanford Invitational on Friday night. In the men’s 10,000-meter Invite, senior Gilbert Kigen posted a career best time of 28:20.28 to take home third place. Fellow senior Alfred Chelanga took 13th overall in his first race since last spring, posting a time of 28:43.71. Freshman Noel Rotich finished second in the third section of the men’s 5,000 meters.

Baseball loses series to Florida

"It was a really tough night for us,” Alabama head coach Brad Bohannon said in a press release. “To Florida’s credit, they really hit a lot of balls hard – 16 hits and five home runs. They’re starting to look like the team that everyone anticipated going into the season. When you’re facing a really talented team, you have to get ahead in the count; keep the ball down and out of the middle of the plate; and you have to be able to throw some secondary stuff for a strike; and we didn’t do enough of that tonight.”
