Alabama defense stifles Blue Devils in season-opening win

Alabama’s defense didn’t look like it was starting two true freshmen at inside linebacker. It didn’t look like it had six new starters. And it didn’t look like it was missing its most athletic pass rusher. As it bottled up the Duke Blue Devils en route to a 42-3 win, it looked like a normal Alabama defense.

Alabama opened its 2019 season with a 42-3 win over Duke in Atlanta, improving to 13-0 in season openers under coach Nick Saban. The Crimson Tide’s defense held Duke to 204 total yards while scoring four touchdowns in the second half.
