Alabama basketball suffered a 19-point loss on the road against No. 12 Auburn. The Crimson Tide’s record now stands at 17-11 overall and 8-7 in SEC play.
Despite being only being down by five at the half, Alabama allowed 50 points in the second half and blew up down the stretch. The Crimson Tide had 17 turnovers which led to 28 points for the Tigers.
Auburn’s 90 points are the most Alabama has given up all season. The Tigers shot 43 percent from the floor and made 12 three-pointers in the contest.
Auburn’s dominating win came without forward Anfernee McLemore (ankle) and guard Mustapha Heron (illness). The Tigers also grabbed 14 offensive rebounds.
Alabama freshman guard Collin Sexton was the bright spot in the loss. He scored 25 points on 8-of-12 shooting. It was his 11th 20-point game of the season. His former high school teammate, Auburn guard Jared Harper, scored 21 points and went 10-of-11 from the free throw line.
Fellow freshman guard John Petty continued his struggles in road games. After scoring 27 points in the first meeting between Alabama and Auburn, Petty went 1-of-8 from three with only three points.
Alabama will try to bounce back from the win on Saturday with the team hosts Arkansas at 5 p.n CT. It will be televised on the SEC Network.
