Krystal Rivers wrapped up her Alabama career as one of the best volleyball players to ever wear an Alabama jersey, on her way to being nominated as a NCAA Woman of the Year candidate.
In her senior season, Rivers was unstoppable. She was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week five times, and was named SEC Player of the year, which is the first time an Alabama player has ever earned that title.
Alongside being named SEC Player of the Year, Rivers finished as the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She graduated this past May with degrees in both Spanish and biology, finishing with a 3.65 GPA.
The four-time All-American started her Alabama journey as a walk-on. Her journey got a lot tougher when she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She battled the disease while taking 12 hours and participating through spring practices.
She eventually defeated the disease, going into remission in April of 2014, and continued her dominance on the court.
Rivers leaves Alabama as the Crimson Tide’s all-time leader in kills (2,148) and points (2,506). She is also ranked in seven other career stats, along-side setting the single season hitting percentage at 40.4 percent.
