The UA English Department will host a screening of a more modern adaptation of a prominent Shakespearean work.
What: A film series screening of Joss Whedon’s adaptation of “Much Ado About Nothing.”
Who: The showing is sponsored by the UA English Department. It is free and open to the public
When: Monday, Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m.
Where: The Bama Theatre, located at 600 Greensboro Ave.
Why: Director Joss Whedon is best known for rocking the movie world in 2012 with the first Marvel Avengers movie.
In the same year however, Whedon had an altogether different work emerge: an adaptation of the popular Shakespeare play “Much Ado About Nothing,” starring Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof.
Quite a stretch from flying thunder gods and an angry green man, it certainly seems as if the Hollywood hit-maker wanted to stretch his creative muscles. The screening caters to students interested in this type of cultural crossover.
