Country musical artist Jon Langston has always had a passion for music. As a teenager, he played the guitar in a band. However, as a high school student he decided to do other extracurricular activities instead. During Langston’s junior year of college he decided to refocus his time on playing the guitar. The Georgia native began writing and playing his own songs, then posting them on social media to share with his fans. Since then, Langston has been selling out shows throughout the southeast. On his most recent tour, Langston is set to perform at Druid City Music Hall tomorrow night. We chatted with Langston about music, social media and touring.
What is your favorite concert memory as a fan?
I went to an Alan Jackson concert when I was in middle school. I was about 12 years old.
What is your favorite concert memory as a performer?
I would have to say opening up for Luke Bryan on his Farm Tour and selling out the Georgia Theatre in Athens. It was surreal.
Who are some of your musical influences?
Alan Jackson was the first country record I ever had. I fell in love with his style and the way he performed. The Eagles are my also my favorite band. I’ve been listening to them as long as I can remember.
In what ways has social media helped your career grow?
It definitely has helped drastically these past couple of years. When I first started out, Twitter and Vine were getting popular. I figured out how to use social media to my advantage because it’s free advertising if you use it right.
What is your favorite part of touring?
Going to see places that I’ve never been before. I’ve been to New York, Wisconsin, Washington and I never would have seen these places if I didn’t go on tour.
What is the song that you enjoy performing the most?
Definitely “Forever Girl” because that’s the song that started it all for me. That’s the song that everyone gravitated too. I can be in my hometown performing and everyone knows it or I can be somewhere else and people still know all the words.
What can the audience expect at Druid City Music Hall on Friday night?
It’s definitely going to be a good time. We’ll slow it down for a few songs, but it’s a big party.
