The Alabama Crimson Tide women’s basketball team advanced to the next round in the SEC Tournament when they defeated Vanderbilt today, 77-57. The Crimson Tide traveled to Greenville, S.C. to take on the Commodores at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
Alabama was led by sophomore Shaquera Wade, who scored 21 points, Hannah Cook, who had 15 and Jordan Lewis. who had 13. Alabama junior Ashley Williams had team-best eight rebounds and Lewis had eight assists.
“We had great balance today,” added Curry. “I thought our point guard (Jordan Lewis) really controlled the game. To have six assists and no turnovers and 13 points, there’s been no freshman in the country that has been more valuable to her team than Jordan Lewis. I thought that Shaquera (Wade) really grew up an awful lot today and has been working hard.”
Alabama’s total (77) was the most the team has scored in the conference tournament since 1999. Vanderbilt (14-16) scored first but Alabama (18-12) responded with an 18-4 run, thanks in part to Alabama point guard Jordan Lewis.
