The Alabama hockey team will start its 2016-2017 season on Sept. 1 against St. Bonaventure.
The Crimson Tide begins with a four-game home stand against St. Bonaventure and Oklahoma. Both matchups are the only time the teams will play each other this season.
Alabama plays Arkansas twice this year, for the team’s only SEC matchup of the season. The first series is at home on Sept. 22-23, while the second comes a few months later on Nov. 17-18.
The Crimson Tide has a home/away four-game series against Midland with the first two games at Midland. The series starts Dec. 1.
Overall, the Crimson Tide will play 11 of its weekend series at home this year, at the Pelham Civic Complex.
After a six-game road trip, Alabama will finish its season with a matchup against Indiana on Feb. 24.
There will be two series where the team will play on Thursday and Friday –the Oklahoma and Utah series– instead of playing Friday and Saturday.
Alabama finished 19-14-0-2 in its second season in ACHA division I club hockey. Last season was also the first year for coach John Birchen.
Alabama played better at home than on the road last season. The Crimson Tide finished the 2016-2017 season 11-4 at home, while maintaining an 8-10 record on the road.
