Prior to the Crimson Tide’s College Football Playoff run, former Alabama receiver Chris Black announced he was leaving the program once the season was complete.
He was initially expected to have a larger role on offense and on special teams, but he finished last season with two receptions for 23 yards and was either limited or missed most of the Crimson Tide’s games due to injury.
Missouri coach Barry Odom said the transfer has been a welcome addition to his roster.
“Guys will tend to look at him as a leader in a leadership role,” Odom said. “He’s played meaningful snaps in games, and he’s got a skill set that he can help us and look forward to his development again for the next month before we kick off and expect him to have a really good year for us.
Black will be just one of many new faces that will try to get the Missouri Tigers headed back in the right direction after the then two-time defending-bladivision champs failed to win six games last season.
Tight end Sean Culkin said he expects to see his new teammate making some big plays for the Tigers before the season concludes.
“It’s hard to come in as a guy like that, new town, new coaches, new players, new school it’s a big change, and I think instantly, he grabbed all the player’s respect and I know he has mine and everyone else’s,” Culkin said. “He’s a great teammate, a great person once you get to know him.”
