No. 5 Alabama softball took both games on Saturday after dropping the Friday nightcap. The Crimson Tide beat Rutgers 6-0 before edging out No. 19 James Madison 2-1 on a walk-off single.
In the first game, Leona Lafaele went 3-3 at the plate with two doubles. Demi Turner, Carrigan Fain and Andrea Hawkins each finished with two hits.
Freshman left-hander Madi Moore earned her second win of her career, putting up four strikeouts and allowing no runs on five hits.
Against 19th-ranked James Madison, Sydney Littlejohn and Alexis Osorio combined for seven innings pitched. Osorio (1-0) earned the win with a three-inning relief performance. She gave up one hit and struck out five.
Turner broke up a no-hit bid with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning. She later scored on an errant throw. Marisa Runyon hit a leadoff triple in the seventh. Peyton Grantham hit an RBI single for the walk-off.
Alabama (3-1) will face Liberty on Sunday at 9 a.m. CT.
