Coach Wes Hart and the Crimson Tide soccer team continued to struggle on the road, losing on Friday night in College Station to Texas A&M 4-0, dropping The team droped its fourth straight game and fifth straight game in the SEC.
The Aggies took a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute in the first half with a shot from 12 yards out on to the far post by Ally Watt. Twelve minutes later, they would increase their lead with another goal by Emily Bates off an assist by Karlie Mueller.
The Crimson Tide finished the first half with five shots and one shot on goal attempted by midfielder Celia Jimenez, who had two shot attempts in the half. Midfielder Hailey Brohaugh had two shot attempts, while goalkeeper Kat Stratton allowed two goals and had two saves in the half.
In the second half, the Crimson Tide lost Chatham DeProspo in the 72nd minute after her second yellow card of the game. The disadvantage on defense was shown moments after when Bates scored her second goal of the game from 10 yards out to the left of goalkeeper Stratton, Bates’ fifth goal of the season. The Aggies added to their commanding lead minutes later with another goal by Ally Watt, her third for the season.
The Crimson Tide couldn’t find an answer on offense and was left scoreless to end the game. It took 11 shots for the game with three on goal. Stratton had a season-high nine saves despite allowing a season-high of four goals. The team falls to 4-8-2 (1-5 in the SEC).
The Aggies lead the all-time head-to-head series 4-1 and have won five straight, outscoring the Crimson Tide 17-2 over that span.
The Crimson Tide will return to the Alabama Soccer Complex this Sunday for a match against Tennessee. The Volunteers defeated the Crimson Tide in the SEC Tournament last season, scoring three unanswered goals in the second half, they lead the all-time series 11-5-1. Opening kick begins at 5 p.m.
