On Monday, Alabama returned to practice for the first time since releasing an official depth chart, but the depth chart has not signaled the end of position battles.
One position battle that is perhapsĀ more visible than others, is the one taking place at quarterback. When the quarterbacks worked in two separate lines Jake Coker was followed by Alec Morris and walk on 19 in that order. David Cornwell led the second line, and Cooper Bateman and Blake Barnett rounded out the line.Ā
When the quarterbacks worked together Coker led the line. He was followed by Morris, Bateman and Cornwell. The quarterbacks threw a lot of long passes today, and several of those were either overthrown or dropped.Ā
Practice Notes:
- Barnett once again worked with the offensive line as it practiced blocking for running backs. Derrick HenryĀ led the backs through the drills followed by Kenyan Drake and Damien Harris.Ā
- Coker’s line of wide receivers was led by ArDarius Stewart, Richard Mullaney, and Cam Sims. Daylon Charlot and Chris Black took places at the end of the line.Ā
- Robert Foster led the second line of receivers, and Calvin Ridley and Derek Kief followed him in that order.Ā
The defense worked on its dime defense today, and starters included:
- Safeties: Geno Smith and Eddie Jackson
- Cornerbacks: Cyrus Jones and Marlon Humphrey
- Star/Money: Minkah Fitzpatrick and Maurice Smith
- Linebacker: Reuben Foster
