Update: The University will resume classes and normal operations at 1 p.m. Students and faculty who cannot safely travel to campus are advised to contact their professor or supervisor.
Normal operations are expected to resume Wednesday, according to a University spokeswoman.
The University of Alabama has canceled all classes and University operations from 9 p.m. Monday evening through Tuesday.
According to a campuswide email, the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for north central Alabama, an area that includes Tuscaloosa and the UA campus.
The emailed alert informed students that the University may resume classes within two hours of notifying students if weather conditions improve and the campus has power. Tuesday will mark the fifth day this semester that classes have been canceled due to weather.
The University encourages students and faculty to monitor weather conditions along travel routes.
According to the email, the University will notify students about the status of classes on Wednesday at a later time.
The follow campus operations will change their regular schedules:
Dining halls at Lakeside and Burke and Julia’s Market in Tutwiler will be open. All other Bama Dining locations will be closed.
Crimson Ride will cease operations beginning at 9 p.m.
The Rec Center, libraries and the Ferguson Center will be closed Tuesday.
The Ferguson Mail Center will be closed.
