Tide looks to break out of slump

The Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team is looking to break out of its slump Wednesday as it faces the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.

The Tide, which has lost its last three games (away from home), returns to Tuscaloosa to face a Southern Miss team whose only losses on the season have come from another Alabama team in the Troy Trojans.

The key for the Tide is its hitting. In its first four games, the Tide outscored its opponents 35-8. In its last three, the Tide has been outscored 28-15. If Alabama wants to get back to its winning ways, this is probably the place to start.

Defensively, the Tide must also do something about the Golden Eagles’ hitting. In its six wins this season, Southern Miss outscored its opponents 60-22.

However, the Tide is undefeated at home on the season, while the Golden Eagles have lost their only away series (at Troy), being outscored 21-8. Based on both teams’ home home/loss record, it looks like home field advantage may work in favor for the Tide.
