The SEC league office announced Tuesday that Alabama senior forward Ashley Williams has been named Player of the Week for women’s basketball.
Williams earned the award courtesy of her back-to-back doubles-doubles on Thursday at Tennessee and on Sunday at home against Auburn. They are the 15th and 16th double-doubles of her career.
Her 16 points, 10 rebounds, and career-high five assists against the No. 11 Lady Vols propelled the Crimson Tide to its first win at Tennessee in program history. She shot 7-of-10 from the field during the game.
On Senior Day, which coincided with Alabama’s annual Power of Pink/Play4Kay game, Williams was just as good, amassing 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting, as well as 10 boards.
She ranks in the top 10 in both career points (1,345; 10th) and career rebounds (792; seventh) in Alabama women’s basketball history.
