Kevin Paul II is celebrating his twentieth cancer-free year. When Paul was three years old, he had Retinoblastoma, which occurs in the eye, and had to be removed.
To mark this momentous occasion, he has organized a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and Cancer Services of Baton Rouge to raise money for other cancer patients and those who are from his hometown who have cancer as well.
What: F*** Cancer 2018
Who: Kevin Paul II is hosting a fundraising event for anyone to attend
Where: Rounders Bar on the rooftop, 1215 University Blvd, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, 35401
When: Saturday, Jan. 27 from 6-10 p.m.
Why: “There are a lot of people not as fortunate as I was, and being free for 20 years, I just want to be able to give back, and I’m really glad I’m doing it.” Paul said.
Paul said that the event is very casual, and people can come and go as the please. There will also be a table at the event headed up by Sydney Sudderth for the charity organization Gift of Life. The table will allow attendees to register to be bone marrow or stem cell donors for those who need it. You register by getting a cheek swab.
Wristbands to gain entry to the event are $10 and are available both in advance and at the door. Donations will be taken at the event and can be submitted through cash or check. There will be various door prizes given out throughout the night as well. For those who wish to donate, but cannot be in Tuscaloosa that night, donations will be accepted via Venmo at F-Cancer-2018.
