Alabama defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley will leave Alabama to become the defensive backs coach for the Oakland Raiders, according to reports.
Originally, it was reported that Ansley would join Colorado State’s staff as the new defensive coordinator. Now, it appears that Ansley has elected to head to the NFL instead. Ansley is no longer listed as a part of Alabama’s coaching staff on the team’s website.
Ansley coached Alabama’s secondary for the past two seasons, taking over for Mel Tucker when he left for the defensive coordinator position at Georgia.
Ansley will join head coach John Gruden, who announced his return to coaching earlier this month. It will be his first coaching position in the NFL.
