Alabama had its annual team awards banquet on Sunday at the Birmingham Sheraton.
Defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick was named the team’s MVP, which was voted on by the players. He had 52 tackles, one sack, one interception, seven pass breakups, three quarterback hurries, one forced fumble and a blocked kick this season.
Alabama also chose its permanent team captains for this season. Center Bradley Bozeman, linebackers Rashaan Evans and Shaun Dion Hamilton, as well as Fitzpatrick received this honor. Those four players will get their hand and foot prints on the base of Denny Chimes in the spring.
Hamilton took home the Most Inspiring Player award, which was given To the player who affects the whole team by his attitude as well as his performance. Hamilton has suffered two season-ending knee injuries in his career, but still managed to be one of Alabama’s most effective linebackers.
