The University of Alabama fundraised more than $120 million in the 2016-17 fiscal year, according to a press release. This sum breaks the University’s previous record of over $116 million in 2012.
Over 58,000 donors made contributions to the Capstone in the past fiscal year. Close to 8,000 were first-time donors, and fourteen gifts of over $1 million were given, according to the press release.
“We are truly grateful for the faithful generosity of our alumni and friends, and this fundraising record is evidence of how special the Capstone family is,” President Stuart Bell said in a statement. “Without the loyal support of our donors, we would not be able to dream of accomplishing all that we do.”
According to the release, the $120.7 million will benefit endowed scholarships, campus construction, and various programs across campus such as Adapted Athletics, the Randall Research Scholars Program, and the Law School.
