A banner which was sponsored by a white supremacist group and called for the end of DACA was found on campus over the weekend. 

“Put American students first,” read the Identity Evropa banner. “No amnesty! End DACA!”

Identity Evropa tweeted pictures of the banner, which was hung near the bridge that runs from the Riverside residence halls to the AIME building, on Sunday evening. 

The tweet received mixed reactions. The University of Alabama tweeted the following reaction on Monday morning:

“UA core values embody respect+inclusivity. UA strongly condemns any group supporting bigotry+hate. Sign was removed upon discovery on 9/23.”

Identity Evropa is an influential white supremacist group that has received criticism for their white nationalist ideals and participation in the protests in Charlottesville. 

According to a report by the Anti-Defamation League, since the start of the school year, Identity Evropa has posted fliers on more than a dozen college campuses. Just last week, a flier for the group was found in Farrah Hall. 

The fate of the DACA program, which has allowed people who entered the country illegally as minors the temporary right to stay in the country to work or study, is uncertain in the Trump administration.
