The University of Alabama Department of Energy Management held their Great Light Bulb Swap on Thursday, collecting more than 60 light bulbs over the course of the day.
Students were able to swap out their old light bulbs for newer, more efficient LED bulbs. These new bulbs are also seven times faster and last 41 times longer, which reduces energy consumption by 85 percent, according to the Department of Energy Management.
“We appreciate this collaboration with the University to present energy efficiency to the next generation of consumers,” said vice president of Alabama Power’s Western Division, Mark Crews. “Even small changes like changing to LED bulbs can make a difference in overall energy usage.”
