Alabama’s volleyball team won the American Volleyball Coaches Association award on Tuesday. The award is given to a team that has at least a cumulative 3.30 GPA.
The Crimson Tide was one of 145 Division I teams to win the award. A total of eight SEC teams won the award. Auburn, Missouri, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Kentucky, LSU and Arkansas were the other schools to win.
Twelve total players from last year’s team made a SEC Academic Honor Roll team. Krystal Rivers led the way for the Crimson Tide, being named to CoSIDA Academic All-America honors for the second time in her career.
A record number of teams won the award this year, just as they have since 2006-2007. The award was given out to 822 teams.
