For 15 minutes, the rigors and busy schedules of an SGA campaign came to a halt for some. Senate met Thursday night to discusses three resolutions, dealing with OB-GYNs, commencement speeches at graduation as well as the development of the Intercultural Diversity Center.
Resolution 40, encouraging the University to acquire more OB-GYNs. The resolution states, “only one OB/GYN is currently a member of the clinic staff at the Student Health Center,” and goes on to say this shortage has caused some students to be directed to non-OB-GYNs for checkups.
The resolution was tabled by the Student Affairs Committee. Senator Ross D’Entremont, the chairman of the committee, said the committee has reached out to the author with questions and said the committee has yet to receive a response. D’Entremont said the committee will be happy to move forward with the legislation once the committee’s questions have been answered.
Senate also discussed Resolution 41, which encourages the University to have commencement speeches during graduation ceremonies again.
The resolution passed.
