Due to the threat of inclement weather, Alabama spent its second-straight practice indoors. The Crimson Tide is currently preparing for its first scrimmage, which will take place on Saturday. Here are the sights and sounds from today’s practice.
NOTES:
- Alabama had multiple guests and former players in attendance. Marlon Humphrey and Cam Robinson both were spotted. Head basketball coach Avery Johnson also watched practice.
- Trevon Diggs, who spent most of last season working at wide receiver, was seen taking reps with the cornerbacks. Diggs has been one of the more versatile players on Alabama’s roster, doing everything from catching passes to returning punts or playing safety. Head coach Nick Saban worked directly with Diggs and the rest of the cornerbacks.
- Quarterbacks threw short passes to each other for most of the viewing period. Jalen Hurts threw first, followed by Tua Tagovailoa and then Mac Jones.
- Alabama’s two injured players, linebacker Shaun Dion Hamilton (knee) and Jared Mayden (hip), both continued to rehab away from the rest of the team. Both players worked on the stationary bike, then proceeded to do running drills and stretches. Hamilton continues to make progress.
- Alabama’s first group on the offensive line remained the same with Jonah Williams at left tackle, Ross Pierschbacher at left guard, Bradley Bozeman at center, Lester Cotton at right guard and Matt Womack at right tackle. Freshman Alex Leatherwood moved up from the third group to the second group. He was playing right tackle.
- After taking it easy on Monday, Damien Harris led the running backs through assorted drills.
- Alabama once again hosted a large group of recruits during practice. Among them was Paul W. Bryant receiver Seth Williams and Mountain Brook running back Harold Joiner.
