The University of Alabama’s writing center has rolled out a new Twitter service to better serve UA students, while saving them the time of setting up an appointment in their office.

To get help, students must simply tweet at the Writing Center’s handle, @UAWritingCenter, with #helpwritenow. Within four hours, the Writing Center will reply to the student with a concise answer to their question.

While more complicated issues will still require a scheduled appointment or visit during walk-in hours in the Gorgas Library, students can expect answers to questions regarding grammar, citations, writing style and other services that the Writing Center offers.

UANews reports that to incentivize students to use their new service, students will be entered into a raffle for a $25 SupeStore gift card when they tweet a question at the Writing Center.

The Writing Center is designed to help students with any type of writing assignment, big or small, through the help of faculty and staff members. Its main office is located in 322 Lloyd Hall, but the Writing Center does hold walk-in hours in Gorgas Library’s Java City on evenings from Sunday to Thursday.
