Alabama held its first practice inside Bryant-Denny Stadium of the Spring Season. The Crimson Tide was preparing for the team’s first scrimmage, which will take place today. Here are the sites and sounds from Alabama’s ninth spring practice:
Notes:
- Quarterbacks took center stage during the viewing period. Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa both threw to receivers on their respective sides of the field. After multiple reps, Mac Jones replaced Hurts. The quarterbacks worked on anything from short throws to deep routes. Clearly the passing game was the focus of this viewing period, as Nick Saban was very hands-on with each quarterback.
- The three quarterbacks also through to tight ends with Hale Hentges leading the group followed by Miller Forristall and Irv Smith.
- The wide receivers spent the entire time working directly with the quarterbacks on a number of routes. Calvin Ridley led the group, followed by Robert Foster and Jerry Jeudy on the outside. Cam Sims led the slot receiver group.
- Alabama’s first offensive group stayed the same. For the first group, it was Jonah Williams at left tackle, Ross Pierschbacher at left guard, Bradley Bozeman at center, Lester Cotton at right guard and Matt Womack at right tackle.
- Shaun Dion Hamilton (knee) and Jared Mayden (hip) continued to rehab on the sideline. The coaches seemed to be pushing them fairly hard as both players are making progress.
- At inside linebacker, Rashaan Evans led the group followed by Keith Holcombe then Mack Wilson.
