The Alabama football team participated in the morning session of its first two-a-day practice of fall camp. The team will participate in two other such practices over the next couple weeks.
Coach Nick Saban spent the viewing period working with the defensive backs. In particular, he was heard instructing Minkah Fitzpatrick, Tony Brown and Eddie Jackson as they worked with each other in a coverage drill.
Additional Practice Notes:
- Some of the defensive backs also went through a drill that worked on their hands. One line was led by Ronnie Harrison, Kendall Sheffield and Fitzpatrick. The other was led by Marlon Humphrey, Shyheim Carter and Deionte Thompson.
- Inside linebackers went through agility and footwork drills, led by Reuben Foster, Shaun Dion Hamilton and Rashaan Evans. Outside linebackers worked through similar drills, but were led by Ryan Anderson, Tim Williams and Christian Miller.
- Offensive line coach Brent Key called for the first team in a blocking drill. It was made up of Cam Robinson at left tackle, Lester Cotton at left guard, Ross Pierschbacher at center, Bradley Bozeman at right guard and Jonah Williams at right tackle. This has been the look all of camp.
- The running backs, led by Bo Scarbrough and Damien Harris, practiced their strength by ramming into a weighted punching bag.
- The quarterbacks threw to the wide receivers in two lines. The first line consisted of David Cornwell and Jalen Hurts throwing to a line of receivers led by ArDarius Stewart and Cam Sims. Sims made a great one handed catch on a pass from Hurts. The other line, led by Blake Barnett and Cooper Bateman, threw to a group of wide receivers led by Derek Kief and Jonathan Rice.
