One arrest in burglary at Tuscaloosa gun store

While two suspects are still at large, one man has been arrested in connection with the burglary that occurred at a Tuscaloosa gun shop last week.

Last week, burglars were caught on camera stealing more than 30 guns from Guns and Ammo, a gun shop on Greensboro Avenue. A witness near the scene reportedly saw five or six young men enter the building and subsequently leave in a white vehicle.

Since the time of the burglary, police have arrested 21-year-old Birmingham native Justin Raynard King. In addition, arrest warrants have been issued for Ontarius Jemelle Chester, 18, of Birmingham as well as Sherman James Mickles Jr. of Pleasant Grove. Warrants for the two carry third-degree burglary charges.

Tuscaloosa Police Capt. Brad Mason, commander of the Tuscaloosa Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, said leads are still being followed, and more charges could be levied against the individuals.

While he didn’t give a specific number, Mason said several guns have been recovered, and investigators are still searching for the rest of the stolen firearms.

Anyone with information on King and Mickles’ can call any local law enforcement agency or CrimeStoppers at 205-752-7867.
