The first round wasn’t as kind to Alabama as many expected, but the Crimson Tide was well represented in the second round as five players joined first round pick Ryan Kelly in the NFL.
Here’s how the second round played out for former Alabama players:
10th (41st overall)- The Buffalo Bills drafted linebacker Reggie Ragland. He was the fifth linebacker drafted and the first listed as a middle linebacker by the NFL. Ragland finished his season with a team-high 60 solo tackles and a team-high 102 for the Crimson Tide.
14th (45)- Running back and Heisman winner, Derrick Henry was drafted by the Tennessee Titans. He was the second running back selected in this year’s draft following only Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott finished the season with 2219 rushing yards on 395 carries (5.6 yards per attempt) and 28 rushing touchdowns.
15th (46)- The Detroit Lions drafted defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson. He finished the season with with 18 solo tackles and 7.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks
18th (49)- The Seattle Seahawks traded up to grab defensive lineman Jarran Reed. He finished final collegiate season with 17 solo tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss to finish with 57 total tackles.
29th (60)- After not having a first round pick on Thursday, the New England Patriots kicked off their draft by selecting cornerback Cyrus Jones. The selection gave the Crimson Tide six of the first 60 picks in the draft. Jones was one of, if not the best, defensive backs in Alabama’s 2015 national championship run. He also made his mark as a return threat, returning four punts for touchdowns in his final collegiate season.
