WHAT: “Infancia Clandestina” Film Screening. Meaning “Clandestine Childhood,” the film follows the story of Juan and his family as they move back to Argentina after being exiled.
WHO: Hosted by the Latin American, Caribbean and Latino Studies Program.

WHY: Through the viewing and discussion, students will learn about past and present Argentine politics.
“The movie will be shown on the 40th anniversary of the military coup that started the Dirty War (March 24, 1976). We would like students to know about the complicated history of the Dirty War, and the impact it had on Argentine society,” said Teresa Cribelli, assistant history professor at the University. “I think it is a good warning for American citizens – racist and nationalist political speech can come to very ugly ends, as represented by the brutal repression of leftists during the Dirty War.”
