Alabama divers, freshman Margy McCarthy and junior Brent Sagert, posted high scores during the NCAA Zone B Championships held in Atlanta, Georgia this past week.
On Tuesday, McCarthy dove her way into the women’s 3-meter springboard finals after finishing 18th overall with 12 dives totaling 543.45 with 259.90 points coming from the six dives of the final round.
The Hinsdale, Illinois native completed six dives for 283.55 points during Tuesday’s preliminary round to finish 14th before entering the final round after finishing Monday in 36th place with 228.80 points.
Sagert qualified for his first NCAA Championships berth on the first day of the NCAA Zone B Championships after he finished sixth off the 3-meter board.
The St. Albert, Canada native finished the diving preliminary round with 372.80 to finish fifth before earning sixth overall place in the final round with 745.70 total points. Sagert earned one of the 10 slots for the 3-meter competition in the Zone B’s NCAA Championship.
