Alabama traveled to Troy for a midweek game Tuesday night. The Crimson Tide was able to grab two eight inning runs to just overmatch the Trojans 2-1.
After Chandler Avant doubled to put him and Georgie Salem in scoring position, Hunter Webb was able to put the ball in play to bring Salem home. Then Chance Vincent, who was 3 for 4 on the day, singled to score the game-winning run.
Alabama has now improved to 7-1 on the season after the win. Alabama had a committee of six pitchers combine for the one-run outing. Jon Keller made the start and pitched the first four innings, giving up the one earned run for Alabama in the game. Then five others pitched one inning including Thomas Burrows who picked up his fourth save of the season and 22nd of his career.
The 22nd save is an Alabama record. Burrows has struck out 11 of the 19 batters he has faced this season, and has yet to allow a baserunner.
Alabama will travel to Cary, North Carolina this weekend for four games in the USA Baseball-Irish Classic against Notre Dame, Niagara, N.C. State and Brown.
