On Monday, Derrick Henry still couldn’t shake the disappointment he felt in himself after his fumble late in the LSU game.
“I was careless with the ball on that fumble,” Henry said. “It just kills me because I really don’t like making mistakes. That’s something I need to get better at, something I still need to work on.”
Later on in practice Henry, Kenyan Drake and the other running backs ran drills while carrying two footballs. This is not an uncommon sight at practice especially when the coaching staff is stressing ball security.
Practice Notes:
- Former Alabama running back Trent Richardson was seen stretching in the indoor facility while the team worked outside.
- Some running backs wore a No. 32 jersey to help the team prepare for Mississippi State’s Ashton Shumpert. He is currently averaging 3.5 yards per carry, but he’s only rushed 50 times this season.
- Alabama prepared for a few other Mississippi State players including defensive lineman Ryan Brown (third on the team in tackles for loss), tight end Darrion Hutcherson and running back Brandon Holloway (4.6 ypc).
- O.J. Howard and other tight ends caught short passes in the viewing period.
- The quarterbacks including Jake Coker threw passes to ArDarius Stewart and the rest of the receiving corps.
