UA Fraternity hosting campus awareness event for wheelchair athletics

The UA chapter of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity is hosting “Push Alabama-Campaign for Awareness” Friday on the Quad from 11 a.m. — 2 p.m. to raise awareness on campus about wheelchair athletics.

Athletes from UA’s Wheelchair Athletics program and the 2010 national champion UA Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team will be at the event along with Pi Kappa Phi fraternity members.

The wheelchair basketball teams will show wheelchairs and athletic training chairs that they use for conditioning, basketball, tennis, track and field and kayaking.

University Singers to hold concert Monday

The University Singers present the group’s spring concert on Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the Moody Music Building. Faythe Freese will accompany the singers on the organ, and they will perform “Benjamin Britten Rejoice in the Lamb, Op. 30” and “Maurice Durufle Requiem, Op. 9.”

Census forms due by Friday

April 16 is the final day for mailing back 2010 census forms. Students who send in their forms after Friday may still be visited by census workers when they begin going door-to-door to obtain census information in May. Contact the Census bureau for assistance if you did not receive a form.

Alpha Sigma Phi holds 24-hour bike ride fundraiser

The Alpha Iota chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity will be holding the 24-Hour Bike Ride for Cancer in the Rec Center lobby Thursday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. During this event, members of Alpha Sigma Phi will be riding a stationary bicycle for as long as possible, and the bike will not stop moving. The proceeds for this event will go to LiveStrong. Members would greatly appreciate any support that can given by contributing to their effort by making donations at the site of our fundraiser or buying T-shirts that have been made for the event for $10.

SGA Director Applications Now Available

The 2010 director application for SGA director positions is available at sga.ua.edu and is due April 21 by 5 p.m. Students can indicate their top three preferences when applying; interviews will follow after applications are processed.

Along with director applications, University Standing Committee applications will also be available from Monday until April 21, followed by an interview process.
