Honors College Student Assembly elections continue today

The Honors College Student Assembly officer elections will be held through today in the lobby of Nott Hall from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Please bring your ACT card to vote. To review the HCA officer candidates’ qualifications and platforms, go to the Honors College website www.honors.ua.edu and click on the Honors College Assembly side bar. (Director position applications will be due later in the month on April 21st or, in the case of an officer run-off election, April 23rd.)

Groups to host cook-out to help diabetes research

The fraternity Delta Kappa Epsilon and sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma are hosting a charity event “Kick off for a Cure” Thursday to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The $10 ticket will go directly to the foundation. From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wintzell’s Oyster House will sponsor a cookout in the DKE front yard.

With the $10 ticket, participants will also get a wristband for a concert featuring American Idol star Bo Bice at Rounders Thursday night at 10 p.m.

Census forms due by Friday

April 16 is the final day for mailing back 2010 census forms. Students who send in their forms after Friday may still get visited by census workers when they begin going door-to-door to obtain census information in May. Contact the Census bureau for assistance if you did not receive a form.

Alpha Sigma Phi holds 24-hour bike ride fundraiser

The Alpha Iota chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity will be holding the 24-Hour Bike Ride for Cancer in the Rec Center lobby Thursday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. During this event, members of Alpha Sigma Phi will be riding a stationary bicycle for as long as possible, and the bike will not stop moving. The proceeds for this event will go to LiveStrong. Members would greatly appreciate any support that can given by contributing to their effort by making donations at the site of our fundraiser or buying t-shirts that have been made for the event for $10.

SGA Director Applications Now Available

The 2010 director application for SGA director positions is available at www.sga.ua.edu and is due April 21 by 5 p.m. Students can indicate their top three preferences when applying; interviews will follow after applications are processed.

Along with director applications, University Standing Committee applications will also be available from Monday until April 21, followed by an interview process.

COE does ART presents “Oh Horrors! It’s Murder!”

The College of Engineering does Amateur Radical Theater presents “Oh Horrors! It’s Murder!” on Friday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. in 126 H.M. Comer Hall. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door.

Forensics team to hold auditions

The Alabama Forensic Council will hold open auditions for new members on April 22 from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on April 23 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in 226 Reese Phifer Hall. Students can register for an audition in 210-A Reese Phifer Hall by April 22. For the audition, students should be prepared to present a reading of literature or make a speech or presentation they have done in the past.
