The Alabama Department of Transportation is holding a bicycle and pedestrian plan workshop on Monday in Tuscaloosa, among other Alabama cities.
The department invites the public to come to the workshop and voice opinions and questions on walkability and bikeability within the state.
“The purpose of the Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian plan is to establish a vision for bicycling and walking as modes of transportation in Alabama and to help guide investment in bicycle and pedestrian facilities that maximize limited available funding,” ALDOT said on its website.
This comes after many residents, including students on campus, have critiqued the state for a perceived lack of public transportation and walkability.
“The workshops will be conducted as open houses where members of the public are invited to ask questions, discuss the project with staff, and provide comments on elements of the plan,” ALDOT said.
The workshop will be held at 2715 East Skyland Blvd., the ALDOT West Central Region office, from 5-7 p.m.
