Alabama volleyball announced the hiring of Nathan Matthews on March 6, the second assistant coach hire of the offseason.
The team previously hired Jake Barreau on January 27.
Matthews has coached Wittenberg University for the last three seasons, during which he led the program to back-to-back 15+ win seasons for the first time in its history. He was also named Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League Coach of the Year in 2023 and 2024.
Before his time as head coach, Matthews served as the technical coordinator for Kentucky volleyball in 2020, when the Wildcats won the national championship.
Matthews said he is very excited to join Alabama and is eager for the 2025 season to get underway.
“It did not take long for Coach Reed to get me fired up about what the future holds for this program,” he said. “The support offered to student athletes at Alabama is unmatched. Beyond that, I have been blown away by just how special the entire Alabama family is.”
