Alabama football has a new name atop its list of 2020 commits after Jayson Jones, the top-ranked junior in the state, committed to the Crimson Tide on July 2.
Jones, a 6-foot-5, 322-pound defensive tackle, attends Calera High School, located an hour east of Tuscaloosa. He announced his commitment in a two-minute video on Twitter where he initially dons a University of Georgia hat and says “go Dawgs,” but then switches to Alabama gear with a little help from comedian and noted Alabama fan Jermaine “FunnyMaine” Johnson.

Despite the announcement, Jones said he still intends to use his allotted official visits and give other schools a chance to overtake the Crimson Tide over the next year, according to 247Sports.
With Jones’ commitment, Alabama now has five underclassman committed in the 2020 class.
