Alabama football prepared for its first scrimmage of the spring on Saturday inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. The players weren’t bothered by the unseasonably chilly weather. Here are our observations from the first of three scrimmages, including A-Day:
- Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was more involved today than at any other point since breaking his index finger two and a half weeks ago. He threw to receivers alongside all the other quarterbacks.
- Wide receiver Jerry Jeudy remains sidelined after having surgery to repair a meniscus injury. Henry Ruggs, DeVonta Smith, and Xavian Marks led the group through a drill where they ran forward and backward for about 10 yards, squatting each time they changed direction.
- The inside linebackers did a drill they don’t do very often during the viewing period. Pairs of them ran backwards after a simulated snap and then turned around to attempt to catch the pass. Dylan Moses and Mack Wilson were the first pair, followed by Joshua McMillon and Markail Benton.
- Tight ends worked on one-on-one blocking. Two at a time worked on hand placement while other tight ends held a pad in front of them. Miller Forristall was seen wearing a black, non-contact jersey as he continues to recover from his torn ACL that he suffered last season.
