Alabama baseball was swept by Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee after losing both games of the Sunday double header. Alabama lost the first game 2-1 and was shut out 3-0 in the final game of the series. With the losses, Alabama is now just 1-5 in SEC play.
In the first game of the double header, Alabama scored its only run in the fifth inning. With two outs, catcher Matt Malkin singled. He was pinch ran for by Connor Stutts, who scored off an arrant throw.
Tennessee answered in the sixth. It scored the tying run off a throwing error. Tennessee followed with a walk, which loaded the bases. Another walk scored the winning run.
Senior pitcher Jake Walters threw one of his best starts of the season. He went 5 2/3 innings, and allowed two unearned runs. He struck out nine batters, which is a new season high.
In game two, Tennessee plated two runs in the first inning. Starter Garret Rukes retired the first batter of the game before allowing a walk. Two straight singles and an error scored the first runs of the game.
