After a week of speculation, Alabama was selected for its fourth-straight College Football Playoff. The Crimson Tide comes in at No. 4, and will face Clemson in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1.
The selection came down to Alabama and Ohio State. Overall, it seemed the committee went went the eye test, and discredited Ohio State because of its two losses. The Buckeyes finished No.5 in the rankings after beating Wisconsin, 27-21, in the Big Ten Championship.
This will be the third-straight time Alabama has faced Clemson in the CFP, with the previous two times coming in the national championship. Alabama won the first matchup, 45-40, while Clemson won last season, 31-28.
Alabama is currently favored by one points over the Tigers in the semifinal.
