Students were encouraged to complete Student Opinions of Instruction (SOI) surveys in an email sent by Kevin Whitaker, executive vice president and provost for The University of Alabama.

SOIs are confidential online surveys that allow students to rate their courses and professors.

“The aggregated results are used by faculty, department chairs, and deans to improve both curricular and instructional quality,” the email read. “…Without your responsible input, we cannot effectively assess and improve teaching performance and student learning. Please be honest, fair, and constructive as you complete your evaluations.”

The surveys are available to students through their myBama account. Students should go to the Student tab and select “Your Opinions Matter” in the OIRA Resources block.

SOIs are now open and can be completed until Dec. 10. Social work surveys will close the following week, according to the email.

For more information, students can visit oira.ua.edu/soi or email [email protected].
